42 mountain passes remain closed

In alpine mountains there is no end of winter in sight. The Auto Club Europa (ACE) advises to drive with snow chains in the trunk in the mountains and to adjust to weather and road-related breaks during the tour. As the club announced in his Alpine Road Report, are as in the previous week still closed 42 of a total of 200 passes fully.

Chain is compulsory in Austria for trucks on the B77, on the road Gaberl Gaberl. In South Tyrol must in winter conditions (snow, slush or ice) only drive vehicles equipped with snow tires or snow chains fitted. About the Regulation on winter equipment is informed by means of appropriate road signage.

The ACE recommends that when driving in all of Switzerland carry snow chains. Many passes have snow-covered roads and a chain requirement for individual passports can be introduced at short notice at any time.
