Alfa Romeo GTA 4C: the market in 2012?

Alfa Romeo could soon present an interesting coupe with rear-wheel drive, finally listening to the demands that many fans of the House of Arese were received from the top of the Lingotto in past years to be able to revise a sporty all-around "with the mark of Alfa Romeo . According to reports coming so far, the mysterious model should be the Alfa Romeo GTA and 4C would be a 2-seat coupe low center of gravity, forms and sport compact, going to continue the tradition after the Alfa Romeo Duetto 1994 and the 8C Competizione, a true gem of Italian automobile production but built only 1,000 units at a price of 213,000 €, so not really popular.

Future 4C GTA would be designed at the Alfa Romeo Style Centre in Turin and should be assembled in Italy by the end of 2012, while the estimates palerebbero a production volume of between 20,000 and 25,000 units within the next five years (with a trend of 4 or 5,000 units per year) at a price of around € 40,000.

The sales estimates do not seem impossible to achieve, especially if the model is also coming on the North American market, as it whispers in circles close to the Italian group. The strong point of the new car should be the weight that should be somewhere around the 850 kg load through the use of aluminum for different components and a sophisticated carbon fiber frame developed in collaboration with Dallara on the basis of the KTM X-Bow, while the engine could be the four-cylinder gasoline direct-injection 1.8-liter TBi capable of providing 250 hp for a weight / power ratio of less than 3.5 kg / hp.

The new Alfa Romeo 4C GTA should see the debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but the conditional is necessary on this occasion more than ever, since it seems there are some delays in the preparation of the concept by bringing in Switzerland.
