Aston Martin Virage: the second GT Gaydon

Aston Martin will present at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March), the Virage, a tribute to the British supercar produced in the late '80s and '90s, the era in which the House Gaydon Ford was part of the orbit. Now available in both coupe configuration that called Volante convertible version, the new British sports will be positioned in between the range Aston Martin DB9 and DBS, both in terms of performance offered by the V12 from 496 hp for the price and finish offers, thereby enlarging the proposal of the manufacturer to six Anglo-Saxon models.

Aesthetically, the new Virage refines the classic line that characterizes all sports Aston: In front stands a new aluminum grille positioned between the two projectors to drop bi-xenon (with the classic LED) that go to the front wheel arches. The waistline of the side is very high and is joined in harmony with the rear view, the latter too reminiscent of that of the older sister DBS, especially with regard to the headlights.

The interior of Virage sartorial touches almost maniacal attention. The exquisite leather is hand made by craftsmen from Scotland Bridge of Weir, while the center console and many other details can be embellished with brushed aluminum or a choice of fine woods. In total, it takes more or less than 200 hours to assemble - almost entirely by hand - each piece of Virage, of which 70 hours are used only for the interior.

Obviously the range of accessories is the first level, there are in fact the Garmin navigation system, electronic climate control, cruise control and a sophisticated sound system with 700 watts, signed by specialists Bang & Olufsen, including CD player -MP3 and AUX connections and Bluethooth.

The heart that equips the new Aston Martin Virage is the powerful 6.0-liter V12 used by the DB9 and DBS, which on this model emanates power of 496 hp and 570 Nm of torque, downloaded to RWD and supported by a six relationships Touchtronic II, equipped with the automatic-sequential. The parent company says a top speed of just over 300 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.6 seconds covered.

Like any self-respecting Gran Turismo, the handling of the car is completely adaptable to any driving situation, the credit goes to the device Adaptive Damping System (ADS) that allows the electronic control of hydraulic suspension of the car, while the braking system Aston engineers have opted for the "tireless" carbon-ceramic discs.

The new Aston Martin Virage and Virage Volante can already be ordered from the dealers of the English, even if the list price will be announced in a few days during the festival in Switzerland.
