BMW and i8 i3: in 2013 the BMW range

BMW has made official the launch of the range "bmw i", dedicated to sustainable mobility, which will become a true sub-brand of the German. The first two cars to bear the new brand, expected in 2013, will supply the i3, formerly known as Megacity, and i8 plug-in hybrid, version of the Vision EfficientDynamics of 2009: the models will work for 800 workers with a investment of 400 million euros for its plant in Leipzig and will use the LifeDrive innovative architecture that combines the central frame CFRP and aluminum subframe for the engine, with a great saving in weight which balances the presence of the batteries, so as to maintain low power consumption and avoid unbalancing the balance and driving pleasure.

The slogan "Born Electric" clearly explains the basic idea that BMW has applied: to design cars optimizing every component, but also creating design solutions and services designed from the outset in new prospects for sustainable mobility: the new BMW ConnectedDrive that we will apply the Geneva Motor Show concept car through the ConnectedDrive Vision will play a very important and will provide integrated services for the use of cars and services such as car parks, charging points, intelligent navigation systems, car-sharing and exchange of information between vehicles.

BMW will also open its platform to outside developers to expand the applications available. Mystery, for now, on a possible presence of prototypes and updated i3 i8 at the Geneva Motor Show.
