BMW prepares 13 models with front wheel drive

BMW was thinking that the development of front-wheel drive models, is well known for some time. What I did not know was the scope of the project of the House of Monaco. It appears that from 2014 there will be a real "invasion" of inner-wheel drive models from BMW and MINI. In 3 years will be the 1 Series GT, MPV version of the German media inspired by the much larger 5-Series GT.

The future model will take advantage of this scheme to ensure greater comfort. On the same floor may be born then the second generation of the MINI Clubman, the measures which will increase significantly compared to the current generation, with a 5-door body. The third generation of the BMW 1 Series (2017-2018) should adopt the front-wheel drive (which already would have, according to 80% of the holders of the current model).

In 2016 however would be the turn of the BMW Z2, very little roadster inspired by the Mazda MX-5, the approximate cost of 30,000 €. Two other models with front wheel drive layout will be the new X1 compact and the future on a MINI for now known as "Joy", the name of production should be a series, making the current 1 Series 2.

For the MINI brand, however, the front-wheel drive is not new and will be adopted by the third generation of the Cooper (2013), followed Clubman and Convertible (2015). Even the all-new mini MINI, which could be called major, will have front-wheel drive, as well as the Mini Activity Tourer, another new model currently under study, whose shapes could be resumed as the Volkswagen Microbus.

Finally, in 2017 came the second generation of the Countryman then in 2018 will be the last round of MINI Coupe and Roadster. As many as 13 models in seven years, including 9 of the MINI Cooper, Cooper Convertible, Clubman, Coupe, Roadster, Countryman, Paceman, Mini Van and Mini Minor.
