BMWi: the ecological future of Monaco

BMWi. Here is the brand name under which the House of Monaco will market its eco-friendly cars. For the presentation of the new BMW organized a special event called "I Can not Wait" (I can not wait) during which he also unveiled the names of the first two ecological models: i3 and i8. The BMW i3, known so far with the name of Megacity Vehicle, will be the first all-electric city car of the House, while the i8 will be guided by the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics, a hybrid sports coupe presented at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The i3 will then have an all-electric propulsion, while the i8, inspiration major sports, will mount a three-cylinder 1.5-liter turbodiesel that will be combined with two electric motors (one for each driveshaft) whose total output reaches 328 hp. Two different types of propulsion for a single purpose: to diminish more and more harmful emissions.

The two cars will be different then, both in the type of drive for design, but will share the technology used to build the frame. Yes, the structure "LifeDrive Concept" which includes an aluminum chassis, motor and batteries if they are willing, together with a body made entirely of carbon fiber.

The combination provides a low weight with consequent benefit to consumers. "BMWi represents a new movement in the mobility premium. With the introduction of the new sub brand the BMW Group reaffirms its leadership position as the premium car manufacturer more innovative and 'green', "said Ian Robertson, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for sales and marketing.

The BMW and i3 i8 will be on the market in 2013 and will then be followed by other models such as the i5 and i7, which will expand the family of green cars of the House of Monaco of Bavaria.
