Car review: For many Italians optional

In 2010 the number of car reviews in Italy has declined: in fact, an increasing number of motorists who endanger the safety of themselves and others (more so with older vehicles) postponing or forgoing the obligatory periodic checks. The decrease in expenditure has also reduced the turnover of the workshops, which has grown from 2.4 billion to 2.3 billion, a decrease of 5.5% over 2009.

In addition, empowered to review the centers have increased in number, thus going to further reduce the market share of each of them, according to figures released by the Centre Autopromotec. Right on the counter of the data is emphasized, since it is clear that an increase in supply (that is, private workshops at which to perform the review) is matched by a significant reduction in demand, with a good slice of motorists, also because of the difficult economic situation, chose to risk fines and other measures so as not to lead to review their vehicle.

In this sense, the new Highway Code is very clear and shows a more stringent penalties for those who transgress the rule, which can incur a fine of up to 624 €, double and penalty associated with the suspension of the vehicle from service for those who demonstrate relapsed. All this without considering the possible repercussions of the fact of keeping vehicles on the road unsuitable and potentially unsafe.
