Enel's doubts on electric mobility

Enel believes that the zero-emission mobility is an important part of a global approggio to the problems of traffic and pollution, but also on the other hand believes that the spread of battery-powered cars will go very slowly, reaching in 2020 only 5% of new registrations on the market. This is a realistic position, which puts into serious question, however, all plans of development of electric vehicles in the face of such a small production numbers fail to trigger the virtuous cycle that leads to a substantial reduction of costs of development, those of production and, consequently, the final sale price.

According to the manager Enel, the idea of electric mobility justifies the pilot projects of Enel (particularly in the joint venture with smart) for the spread of charging stations, but we must be realistic and face the problem with solutions of greater impact.
