The European Euro NCAP organization has the Mitsubishi i-MiEV undergo a crash test. The electric vehicle during the test showed all his strength and was awarded four stars. The electric motor and lithium ion batteries are the Mitsubishi Electric Scooters between the two axles with a wheelbase of 2.55 meters (total vehicle Length 3.40 meters) below safely.

In the crash test results from Euro NCAP says: "No problems were found in the electrical system on the vehicle. The batteries were not damaged. "The good results in Euro NCAP test was previously occupied by the ADAC. At the front end crash test absorbed the impact (impact speed 64 km / h, 40 percent overlap) good: The survival space for the occupants survived.

At the offset rear impact - another test scenario, in which bounces a 1400 kilogram car barrier at 80 km / h into the stationary vehicle, Mitsubishi also showed high stability. The safety cut the high-voltage circuit after the crash, worked, according to the ADAC, fine. So despite the scooter lightweight, short front end and high-voltage system in an accident in terms of security can keep up with a comparable car with internal combustion engine.

Following the crash caused the fire, a technical rescue in which the vehicle was open by default, ADAC rescue card with the cutting and retractor. Exemplary Mitsubishi posted already in the market a card that holds other important information about the high-voltage technology for the rescuers, so that the victim may be the rescue card after an accident with their electric car freed safely from the body, and the rescue forces to were never exposed to hazards.
