Law No 29 July 2010 120 introduced the power limit for those who will achieve the B license from February 9, 2011 onwards: the fact that time new drivers may not drive cars for a year who have a power / tare exceeding 55 kW per tonne (for the sun vehicles) with an output exceeding 70 kW. The tare in this case is the empty mass, or weight of the vehicle plus 75 kg for the driver.

In view of the new limits Fiat Group Automobiles offers the choice of several models and engines that will meet proposed by its brands Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo are eleven models with a choice of 32 different combinations model / engine. In fact, all Fiat cars currently in production (except for the Sixteen) offer at least two engines that allow driving by young drivers, as well as the Lancia Ypsilon, Musa Lancia and Alfa Romeo MiTo.

To test whether a car meets the new limits should be consulted on which the registration certificate for vehicles registered from October 4, 2007, the balance between power and tare is indicated in Box 3, 2nd row. For vehicles registered in the period before the registration certificate must try items on the power in kW and the tare or empty mass, both expressed in kg on the basis of these values must then calculate the relationships.

The value must be considered with three decimal places: a car with a ratio of 55.000 is within a limit, while a car with a ratio of 55.001 can not be driven by a novice.
