The Ford Focus RS will also diesel?

The heir to the Ford Focus RS, the 305 hp sports car, might have both a version of a petrol-powered diesel. This surprising news comes from the statements of John Wellsman, sales manager for the British market, which seems convinced that a diesel version of the Focus RS could attract a wider customer base.

Turbodisel could provide a powerful fact of lower operating costs than the "sister" on gasoline, but without sacrificing performance and to look "racing" to which we had used the average sporting the blue oval. Among the eligible candidates engines, there would be a powerful 2.2-liter unit TDCi 200 bhp used by many models of the Ford Group.

This engine would obviously set for a sporty, thanks to some changes in getting a performance upgrade that could take him on the threshold of 230-240 hp. Obviously, the performance would be lower rather than the last RS equipped with the 2.5-liter turbo, 305 bhp, but fuel consumption and lower harmful emissions will allow for more use, suitable to drive every day.

For the moment, the parent company neither confirmed nor denied the statements, given that even the petrol version of the future in the form of RS is still only an examination, and the less powerful sister called Focus ST - 250 hp strong - is not expected before 2012.
