Ford: weight reduction models of the future

One of the priorities for the future of the British House Ford will be to reduce the weight of its cars and, consequently, fuel consumption and emissions. This decision was already taken by a number of Ford, Alan Mulally, when, in 2006, took a drastic decision about the Explorer SUV: lose weight. The current model of the Explorer SUV weighs some 50 kg lighter than its predecessor of 2006.

This argument of the weight of the Ford Explorer was also the focus of the presentation of the Explorer. This weight reduction has led to the latest model SUV to consume 24% less, and this is what will happen to future Ford models.
