From an electric GM cheaper?

In the U.S. the cost of cars is significantly lower than in Europe (but not that we are a little 'silly'?). It follows that to be competitive, an electric car should not cost much more than conventional and even in the face of new technology installed. That's why the problem is rather felt by local manufacturers (see GM and Ford), especially in light of recent problems of disbursement of the incentives discussed earlier.

Stay at home GM with the Volt, the $ 41,000 "edge" that we must pay enough to buy the place out of business. Sales in fact not take off (in the American sense of the word) and do not urge action to raise the flag of the GM technology is a flop. Detroit's why the company is thinking about a sort of low cost of the electric, developing a new car battery which, however, the price should not exceed $ 30,000.

Net of $ 7,000 incentive to make 23,000, still a lot (about € 16,800, maybe they cost so little to us) but more acceptable. The car should borrow the remaining power of the Volt, but have a more economical construction, and a pack of lithium batteries, lighter and less expensive. The project, however, is still under investigation.
