Geneva 2011: Mini Concept shows Rocketman

Mini presented at the Geneva Motor Show (1st-03.13.2011) the world premiere of the Concept Mini Rocketman. As a 3 +1 seater with 3 doors and one car length of just over three meters, the concept is based on the fundamental requirements of the mobile lifestyle in the cities of tomorrow. The innovative nature of the study will be of lightweight construction and a purist, shaped for maximum driving pleasure and variability oriented interior.

A space frame structure made of carbon, whose distinctive surface structure, both at the front door and in the region as is also visible in the interior, provides the basis for a weight-optimized design. The Rocketman Concept has an outside length of 3.419 meters and topped that in 1959 presented the ancestors of the brand front and rear is only a few centimeters.

The width of the vehicle including mirrors is 1.907 m, height 1.398 meters. Also in the proportions are clear similarities to both classic Mini as well as the current models of the brand. Wide-opening doors with double-hinged joints and integrated skirts get started. The typical mini-contoured and lightweight construction as well executed seats can be arranged in different positions, allowing either maximum driving pleasure with a friend, comfortable space for three passengers, or even a highly efficient floor plan can be implemented with four seats.

Equally variable is possible to modify the transport capacity in the boot to the respective requirements. The two-part rear hatch on the roof consists of a scheduled, opening wide swinging up segment and a lower section that moves out in the form of a drawer from the body. The central control unit can be removed from the vehicle and are configured on the computer to update navigation destinations, the music program or contact information for the mobile communication even before the trip.
