Geneva Motor Show: the future of the signed IED Abarth

From Turin headquarters of the European Institute of Design comes the Abarth of the future. It's called IED Abarth Scorp-Ion battery and can be admired at the Geneva Motor Show in early March 2011. The name comes from far away - in the sixties there was Scorpion coachbuilder Francis Lombardi - and goes far, because he wants to emphasize the blood supply 100% of the prototype.

Compact - measuring 4,010 mm long, 1905 mm wide and 1192 mm high - and essential, the Scorp-Ion is powered by four electric motors, one for each wheel powered by lithium-ion battery positioned behind the seats. This is obviously a no-frills two-seater, the extreme design reminiscent of the cars on the record made by Carlo Abarth Fiat 500 mechanics.

The protagonists of this exciting project is supported by seven students of the IED Luca Borgogno, senior designer Pininfarina, and Luigi Giampaolo, Designer Maserati. This team of future professionals has imposed on other groups of students in the creation of 1:4 scale models. Once chosen as the Scorp-Ion, all the boys of the same Master have worked to achieve full-scale prototype that will go to Geneva along with other IED Bio-Renovatio concept and Torok.
