Here come the power limits for young drivers

Who will achieve the type B driver's license by February 9, 2011 forward should be fine calculations before getting behind the wheel of a car. Law No 29 July 2010 120, in fact, amending Article 117 of the Highway Code and provides that new drivers can not lead, for a year, cars with the power / tare exceeding 55 kW per tonne (for cars only), even more than conpotenza 70 kW.

Tara means the unladen mass of the vehicle (ie its weight) plus a standard 75 kg for the driver. To know if the car you own - or who would like to buy - respect the new limits, we must see the registration certificate, on which - for vehicles registered from October 4, 2007 - The power and tare is indicated in Box 3 the second line.

For vehicles above you need to find entries in the registration certificate "kW power" and "tare" or "mass gap" (both expressed in kg) and calculating. The value must be considered with three decimal places: a car with a ratio of 55.000 is within a limit, while a car with a ratio of 55.001 can not be driven by a novice.

To cite some concrete examples, in the range of the Fiat Group are the Panda (1.2 69 bhp petrol, diesel 1.3 Multijet 75 bhp, natural gas / gasoline or LPG 1.4 / petrol 1.2), the 500 (1.2 69 bhp petrol and LPG / petrol 1.2), the Great PuntoePunto Ages (from gasoline to diesel 1.2 16v Multijet 85 hp), but the Bravo (as the diesel Multijet 16v 90 bhp).

Among the Lancia Ypsilon, you can choose the 1.2 8v petrol or diesel 1.3 Multijet 75 bhp. For the more sporty Alfa Romeo MiTo 1.4 78 bhp petrol.
