Hyundai i40: pictures live from Frankfurt

How important will the Hyundai i40 for the future? We went to find out directly at the headquarters of Hyundai Motor Europe in Offenbach Fracoforte. The hostess made them directly to the President of Hyundai CK Han. The data give an impression that he rattles off the size of Korea. 3.6 million cars sold in 2010 worldwide, an increase of 16% for a market share of 5.2%, brings Hyundai to be the fifth largest in the world.

8 establishments, including two in Europe: one in Russia and one in the Czech Republic For 2011 the goal is to grow to 3.9 million cars sold, an increase of 8%. Alallan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO continues with the list of successes. The market has lost almost 5% in Europe, but Hyundai was up 4.7%.

Of note the progression of market share: from 1, 8% in 2008 to 2.6 was reached in 2010 with the objective of 3% in 2001. This result was achieved thanks to the boom of 120,000 units sold in i30 and ix35 which received 100,000 orders in 2010. A success even on the difficult Italian market is not then a case that Hyundai has decided to sponsor the Italian national rugby team.

We come then to the actual presentation of the i40, D-segment model designed in Germany specifically for the European market and able to fight competition from the Passat, Mondeo and Toyota Avensis. With the Hyundai i40 launched the concept of "modern premium", ie the quality does not necessarily correspond to a high price or a few.

The i40 will be equipped with premium equipment but at a price much more affordable than the competition. To get an idea will be offered the Lane Keeping Assist System, a tool which helps to keep the correct position on the road, steering wheel and heated rear seats, rear seat adjustable in angle rather than HID Xenon adaptive headlights or de-mist system , which automatically detects and eliminates any fogging of the windshield.

On this model, like the rest of the range in Italy, will be offered the guarantee of 5 years. There will be four engines available, two diesel (the 1.7 CRDi diesel at 115 and 136 ps) and two petrol (Gamma Theta 2.0 and 1.6 GDI GDI), with the possibility of having an automatic gearbox on the 1.7 CRDi diesel Theta 2.0 and GDI.

On the environmental front, declaring a CO2 value of 113 g / km and an efficiency of 4.3 l/100 km. Bearing in mind that the pattern seen is a pre-pre series, we can say that the initial feeling is undoubtedly good. The space is there, and it shows: both the driver and passengers have in abundance.

In particular, the rear passenger legroom as they hardly have seen to date. And speaking of abundance is the wealth of details of the winning i40. Many electrical controls as well as storage compartments, one under the armrest is one of the most capacious seen so far. The dashboard has a clear graphical display, and impact, while the luggage compartment offers generous dimensions.

A word of advice we can give is to look at the Hyundai i40 live before definitive judgments on the line. Some details, such as the curvature of the hood, do not make it in photography. You just have to wait until the Geneva Motor Show, to find out some more details. During the presentation, we were able to observe and photograph the Veloster've seen in Detroit, as well as the Genesis and Equus.

For each one we publish a specific gallery. Hyundai Hyundai i40 Hyundai Equus Veloster
