Hyundai Veloster: incoming rally version

These days, novitàaccompagna a preview of the exhibition in Chicago, from the 11th to February 20th. It is signed by the Korean Hyundai, which has released a picture on the Veloster in a key very unusual. That is to say, engaged in a "jump" rally. Hyundai, in fact, announced the presence at the Show in Chicago a Veloster in racing shape.

Compared to version view at last month's Detroit Auto Show (which has already been reported for a personal impression of tone decidedly sporty: the blacks to the uprights 17-inch wheels to the twin exhaust, rear position - central, and surrounded by 'air extractor), the Veloster race will be presented in a white livery - blue, equipped with a striking rear spoiler and a lowered suspension, evolution - in this case - the geometry of the full suspension and front MacPherson gas at the rear , with stabilizer bars front and rear.

As for the mechanics, the details will be announced in coming days. It can be assumed, however, that the motor racing will be an evolution of the Veloster 1.6 GDI direct injection 140 hp and 167 Nm of coupe three-port asymmetric (one on the left side, two smaller ones on the right) exposed to Detroit and expected to debut commercial for Italy at the end of spring.

On the other hand, the base (1600 cc direct injection) is a good start for the new WRC regulations in force this year. The only mechanical part is still missing is the turbocharger to this aspect, it is possible that, at a later time, do not make their appearance in a list Veloster 1.6 Turbo.

When the project Hyundai Veloster in key racing goes through, the Korean house it will be a return to sports after a long interval. The image that accompanies the preview, it is easy to assume that the plans of Hyundai will be reflected in participation in the rally, specialty in which the mark had already been present in official form, from 2000 to 2003, the Accent WRC : an experience which ended after four lean years of success and ended prematurely before the end of the 2003 season.

Apparently, the experience gained with the Accent may be helpful in the project Veloster, which we expect for the new official information. The car, in series configuration, will debut in Europe next month at the Geneva Motor Show.
