Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 CRD: V6 turbodiesel Fiat by VM

The Geneva Motor Show will be on the stage to present the Jeep Grand Cherokee with a new 3.0 turbo diesel engine. This unit was built by Fiat in collaboration with VM Motori (ingot new appendix): generates a maximum power of 241 hp at 4,000 rpm and a torque of 550 Nm from 1,800 to 2,800 rpm. Consumption is equal to 8.3 l/100 km, while emissions do not exceed 218 g / km (Euro 5).

Numbers made possible by the synergy of the new generation of injectors (pressure of 1800 bar) and the Multijet II. The V6 is structured around a compacted graphite cast-iron block with aluminum heads (such as double overhead camshaft with chain drive head and four valves per cylinder) and aluminum structural oil pan.

At the same materials are made of pistons, designed to minimize friction. The turbocharging is entrusted to a single turbocharger with variable geometry Garrett VGT 2056 supported by an air-air intercooler. The bore is 83 mm and stroke of 92 mm. The overall displacement of 2,987 cm3. The new engine has the following dimensions: length 695 mm, 729 mm wide and 697.5 mm in height.

The total weight of the new engine is 230 kg. Particular attention has been paid to the quiet ride and reduced vibration. Consumption in conjunction with the Grand Cherokee are 10.3 l/100 km in the urban cycle and 7.2 l/100 km in the extra urban cycle. For the European market is also a limited version of 190 hp at 4,000 rpm and 440 Nm of torque between 1600-2800 rpm.

The marketing will begin in the summer.
