New Dodge Charger SRT8: 465 hp enough?

On the occasion of the exhibition in Chicago (11-20 February), Dodge Charger SRT8 will present the version of the super sports sedan American, and recently renovated. Aesthetically, the Charger SRT8 is distinguished from "normal" for the various changes that have covered the front, strong of a new honeycomb grille (which becomes a single element with the lower air intake) and a brand new bonnet gaining new veins from the air very aggressive.

The rear is enhanced by new lights with LED technology and tailpipe sports exhaust butterfly valve with 4 outputs. Finally, the profile of the car is made by the new set of sporty 20-inch alloy wheels, forged aluminum. The interior includes an original flat-bottomed steering wheel and seats more comfortable and profiles, instead of the accessories include a powerful sound system more suited to a concert hall than a car: it comes with a sophisticated high-definition Harmon Kardon, controlled using a widescreen 8.4 inch touch screen and has more than 19 speakers for a total of 900 watts of power.

If the car already awe-inspiring stops, better not think about what he's capable of the Hemi V8 with 6.4 liters developed by the department "Street and Racing Technology" Chrysler Group. This engine delivers 465 hp and good torque of 630 Nm downloaded to a 5-speed automatic transmission with paddles behind the wheel that allow rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h (under 5 seconds), while the maximum speed can reach a peak of 280 km / h.

Of course, in everyday driving is not necessary to take advantage of all the generous power of the engine, in this case via a switch, the driver can deactivate four of the eight cylinders of the engine, saving fuel and lowering their emissions. To keep the top agility and road holding of the sports sedan Yankees, the House of Aries has been entrusted to a new suspension system, now equipped with electronic control, while for the brakes there was entrusted to the Italian specialists Brembo who have designed a system tailored to the SRT8.

As anticipated, the new Dodge Charger SRT8 will make its debut for the forthcoming exhibition in Chicago before joining the U.S. and Canada this fall. Prices, accessories and other technical data will be released by the manufacturer in the coming weeks.
