Along with the prototype of the new Zafira, will be the queen of the amps, the Opel stand at the Geneva Motor Show. The German EREV, twin sister of the Chevrolet Volt, it will (finally) shown in Switzerland in the final version, one that will be offered on the Italian market at a price of € 42,900. Today, the manufacturer has released new details to the account of the car: the new Ampera will have four different driving modes: City, Normal, Sport and Mountain.
The electric motor of 150 hp and 370 Nm (allowing all'Ampera accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in about 9 seconds and reach 161 km / h) will therefore be able to respond to the accelerator in ways different depending on your needs. Pressing the "Drive Mode" in the center console, drivers can choose to optimize the management of energy as a function of the route and driving conditions.
Normal mode is the most common setting of Ampera and will be the one used in most cases for maximum efficiency. When the battery charge falls below a certain level, the EREV switches to "extended-range" and the gasoline engine comes into operation to maintain the charge and allow you to continue to travel.
The battery charge level is also supported by regenerative braking, which allows the gasoline generator to stop during long downhill stretches. The Sport mode makes the engine more responsive to the accelerator pedal. In this approach has not, however, a higher power output, whose maximum value remains unchanged.
Mountain mode adapts the system for delivering the power required in mountain trails, where the traditional benefits of electric vehicles might not be enough. In this mode, the heat generator is inserted before the battery reaches the minimum level of charge. This mode should be selected after performing a full charge, or 10-15 minutes before starting your journey in the mountains, to maintain the full performance of the vehicle even on slopes.
The City finally active mode battery-charging generator allowing you to conserve energy stored in batteries. Once cleared the way, the generator stops working el'Ampera can travel in purely electric mode, for example within the ztl.
