Pollution in London: ecological disaster and misinformation

Milan, 2011. The English would say "the opposite of sense, nonsense, the overthrow of the basic concepts of biological life. The weather is fine, so it's a disaster. Instead of rejoicing curse the weather is fine because we know that will increase the concentrations of pollutants. For years in Milan, the story goes the same way.

In January and February, the rate of contamination by micro, because of the good time and poor mixing of the atmosphere, salt. But there is little about the micro and very manipulated information. First of all the dust there. Always, even before the measures and their concentrations were probably even higher.

Semplicemehte are part of the environment and are produced from the fields and from all human activities, as well as engines and combustion. An electric vehicle, for example, produces anyway. Why did the brakes and the brake pad wear generates dust. It is a constituent of the environment, not an evil bone formation by-product of technology.

This does not mean we do well or that need to live normally in a dusty environment. The fact is that it is necessary to measure the component of the hazardous dust and calibrate the alarms only on that. If the long breath of the earth will have asthma, but not directly the cancer risk. If breathing instead of carbon black (now all called carbon black, very elegant), which contains perhaps even of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (hydrocarbon combustion very dangerous) a tumor might be just a matter of time.

So now that the technology is to help the environment with precise and accurate measuring instruments, while the policy would have to resign to consider the cyclical problem and put in place concrete measures to reduce the production of harmful compounds. Smashing the stack to prove something to no avail.

The proof is the fact that on Sunday, during the blockade, the concentration of dust is actually rising. On the other hand is not an option, especially in a country in crisis, the restriction of private traffic without concrete alternatives. Let's stop talking about public transportation as a panacea.

The enhancement of a service requires just a few years and not more buses to resolve a situation that, in asssenza private traffic, would be totally unmanageable. Better to act on selective measures: outlawing the many polluting vehicles (and then check that they are not really used), remove the oil heating, make the bike lanes.

And then resign yourself to a little 'dust, but removing the harmful constituents as possible. But above all, think about it during the rest of the year, not only in winter.
