Triple victory for Ford Focus RS WRC at Rally start

A start was made at the season launch of the Ford World Rally Championship. The new Focus RS WRC with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine occupied the same all three podium places. The victory secured the work crew Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen before the surprisingly triumphant young Norwegian Mads Ostberg and Jonas Andersson and Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila in the second car of the factory teams.

Mikka Hirvonen for it was the first victory for twelve months. Jari-Matti Latvala got off a weekend of highs and lows. WP-three best times. According to fourth place on Friday, he went the second stage of something too aggressive and took first in any rhythm before he was approached to work brilliantly in the afternoon back at the top.

His hopes of victory ended on Sunday morning with another high-speed spin in which he took off the front bumper of his Focus RS WRC. The result: a frozen windshield, which obstructed the view dramatically. With two best times for the last three tests, however, even after he fought from fifth to third position on the front.

Sébastien Loeb in a Citroën defending champion was ranked sixth (Ampnet / jri)
