Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid: official pictures

Volvo has released the first official photos of the V60 Plug-in Hybrid, which will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show, almost ready for commercialization and expected to be available in 2012. With a unique combination between the D5 diesel 2.4-liter 215 hp and 440 Nm and an electric motor, 70 hp and 200 Nm with lithium ion batteries from 12 Kwh, the V60 is capable of emitting less than 50 g / km .

The battery charging times depend on the type of power: 7.5 hours with 6 A, 4.5 hours with 3 hours and 10 A with 16 A, provided the connection type, home to 230 V. Compared to the standard model, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid is distinguished by special white paint developed by Dupont, a slightly revised aerodynamics and special alloy wheels with low-friction tires provided by Pirelli, while inside a display dedicated to providing information the hybrid system: This information is also retrievable through a remote application for smartphones.

In addition to the hybrid and the purely electric, the innovative system also allows you to use only diesel engine, made new for this type of car, without sacrificing performance in any way: the electric mode "Pure" allows a range of approximately 50 km, the "Hybrid" allows emissions of 49 g / km and a consumption of 1.9 l/100 km, with a maximum range of 1200 km, and the mode "Power" uses the total power of the engines and allows you to tap 100 km / h acceleration in 6.9 seconds.

The four-wheel drive is achieved by combining the front-wheel drive of the D5 engine in the rear of the motor system through the ERAD (Electric Rear Axle Drive). Traction as Volvo, safety has not been neglected, and standards are the same as traditional models: studies of crash tests have allowed to encapsulate the battery pack to minimize the danger in the event of an accident, but were also created to monitor system voltage and temperatures in all operating conditions.

Do not miss the City Safety and Collision Warning Devices. Volvo, in collaboration with the energy giant Vattenfall, is also committed to reduce global emissions by producing energy from renewable sources. Stefan Jacoby has held that "no industry or organization can address the climate challenge on its own.

The mission of Volvo cars is to develop practically free of carbon dioxide, but a sustainable future must be built with the collaboration of all those who care about this issue. This project shows how collaboration between experts from different areas can make us make real progress in moving from individual products with reduced emissions of carbon dioxide to a real, well-designed climate-friendly lifestyle.

"In particular, the Swedish market will offer users with clean energy through wind farms: a single station can power about 3,000 electric cars.
