CNG and LPG sales collapse in February

In Italy sadly collapsing car sales fueled by natural gas or LPG, despite the claims made by manufacturers in recent months and institutions that fuels a glimpse of these solutions to high oil prices and pollution. The boom in gas cars lasted only the time of eco-incentives, which in Italy have finished their effect on March 31 last year (even if they were extended in some regions).

The data on the prevalence of these vehicles are telling: if the general national sales in February fell by 20.5% (a figure similar to other European countries) as these vehicles have fallen by 90%, which does not indicate whether their disappearance the market again, close enough. If just 12 months ago by natural gas or LPG cars accounted for 32% of new registrations, we are now only 4% in February and 4.8% as well in January.

The results are particularly dramatic for gruppoFiat, perhaps most of all focus on this type of power. In parallel, increasing the share of diesel, which last month reached 55.6% share in the enormous growth (more than 17%) compared to last year, and that of petrol vehicles: 39.8% of the cars sold in February were fed with the green, 10 percentage points higher than in 2010.
