Etherea Infiniti at Geneva Motor Show 2011

Debut on stage of the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Infiniti Concept Etherea reinterprets the idea of luxury compact sedan aiming at a target instead clients that want a young dynamic and contemporary. So, after three years of landing in Europe, the Japanese brand renews openly challenge the more traditional brands, including Mercedes.

The design was developed in Japan under the guidance of designer Shiro Nakamura, and has characteristics similar to a coupe, like the pavilion with the downward trend and the tail. Fluid lines and sculpt the sides of ribs without burdening the whole. Inside everything is designed to put the driver at the center, confirming the car's sporty nature.

The simplicity that characterizes the exterior is also found inside: here the designers have proceeded "by subtraction", removing the unnecessary. The result is a minimalist approach that enhances the technological elements, like the large screen at the center of the dashboard or the fully digital instrumentation.

In a concept that looks to the future, the operator could not be hybrid: the engine is the same 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Infiniti M35h that delivers 245 hp and this, combined with an electric motor allows for small steps taken to zero emissions. The transmission to the front wheels is entrusted to a change in continuous transmission (CVT), and there are solutions such as independent suspension, brakes and the regenerative electric power steering / hydraulics.
