Fiat 500 Coupé Zagato: confirmed the production

The Fiat 500 Coupe Zagato created by the 2011 Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March) will be done. This is confirmed directly by the managing director of Fiat, Sergio Marchionne, who confirmed the commercial future of small sporting Turin during the visit to the Chrysler plant in Toluca, Mexico, where he celebrated the start of production of the 500 intended to North American markets.

The Toluca facility will produce about 130,000 units annually, of which 50 000 will be for the U.S. market, a small number of Italian city car will be exported to China and the rest of the cars will go to the Canadian market and those of Central America. Laura Soave, CEO of Fiat to the North American market has confirmed that in future the 500 will be produced in multiple versions that include the Abarth variants sports and the waiting electric version, it will be used only for overseas markets and not for those in Europe.

Among the several variations on a 500 as mentioned before there will be a beautiful 500 coupe designed by the Fiat Style Centre in partnership with the Atelier Zagato. The collaboration between the Milanese factory and the House of ingot has ancient origins that have been strengthened over the decades.

Just remember some of the masterpieces created by Zagato for the Fiat Group (Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Maserati) as the Alfa Romeo 6c and 8c of the '30s, the Lancia Aurelia B20 1955, the Abarth 750 Coupé of 1956, Maserati G/54 2000 A6, 1956, the 'Alfa Romeo Giulietta SVZ of 1957 and the Fiat Siata 1250, 1957, to name a few, but the list is still long.

The rich history that ties with Fiat Zagato has obviously inspired the last 500 coupe that draws its forms from Zagato fifties made on the basis of the "old" 500. Today, as then the body of the 500 coupe to mark the typical gain is characterized by the special double bubble roof, all of the unmistakeable sign of Zagato.

Despite the compact forms (3.55 meters long, 1.63 m wide and 1.49 m in height), the Italian sportivetta keeps setting from 2 +2 that allows discrete habitability. To power the 500 coupe was chosen compact, yet powerful supercharged engine belonging to the family of Twin. This 0.9-liter unit delivers 105 hp and 155 Nm of torque, which allow brilliant performance and emissions of pollutants contained within the soiglia 95g/km CO2.

During the press conference, a number of Fiat has not escaped other details on the new car, such as the list price, equipment and the adoption of new engines, and then for new rumors it was not until a few days.
