Freemont Fiat at Geneva Motor Show 2011

After the catwalk at the Geneva Motor Show 2011, the new Fiat Freemont will start climbing in the market. To her the honor and burden to actually open the marriage of Fiat and Chrysler. A sort of "ius primae noctis" to see if this unholy alliance of so much talked about work or not. "The new models built with the help of Fiat and Chrysler give us optimism and charge," said President John Elkann Fiat Motor Show in Switzerland.

We hope that the sensations are transformed into the 4 million produced by Sergio Marchionne budgeted for 2011. A sort of appetizer before the 6 million 'salvation' hoped-for 2014. "Returning to the Freemont - born crossover based on the Dodge Journey - it is anticipated that the market will be starting next May.

Will be available beginning front-wheel drive version only, because the 4x4 does not come before October. It is produced at the plant in Toluca Mexico, which will churn out the same Fiat 500 that will remain overseas. Indeed, a product like Freemont was missing from the Fiat range. The Sixteen, despite its high level of off-road capability, does not offer adequate size - from the first car - the needs of an entire family or for those looking for a spacious car, comfortable and versatile for work or leisure.

In almost 5 meters long (4.89 to be precise, and 1.88 m wide and 1.72 high), the Fremont is home to up to 7 people in standard form. The third row of seats can still be pulled down to completely disappear under the floor and create a regular cargo space. Furthermore, the second row has at its disposal system "child booster" that, thanks to a booster cushion, allows the correct child seat on board by optimizing the geometry of the seat belt, while ensuring greater security, convenience with comfort.

The driving position is high, the interior is decidedly American-spacious seats, numerous storage compartments (for 140 liters total capacity ...) and a trunk with a total capacity up to 1,461 liters. Stand the dashboard with wraparound chrome features, the brand new instrument panel, center console with the impact of large-screen color touch screen infotainment system.

The exterior design is not very different from that already metabolized the Dodge Journey: muscular lines and sharp, though not too harmonics, resulting in the front lines with new softer bumpers and grille with the Fiat logo. The rear has been revised with the adoption of a new bumper and LED lights.

Only two of the features included, both with 7 seats, alloy wheels 17 "three-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry system, cruise control, advanced trip computer, tire pressure monitoring system (TMPS), fog lights and radio touch screen with a color screen and steering wheel controls.

In the version "town" will be added to the radio with touch screen display, 8.4 ", DVD player and SD card, Bluetooth system, rear parking sensors, folding mirrors, the automatic switching of the headlights, tinted rear glass and roof bars. The engines will be turbodiesel (2.0 Multijet 140 bhp or 170 bhp) paired with a manual transmission.

As a result the engines will be offered 2.0 Multijet 170 bhp petrol and 3.6 V6 276 hp, both with automatic transmission. With the exception of the powerful 3.6-liter engine family Pentastar Chrysler Group and its automatic transmission, all power units are produced and developed by FPT-Fiat Powertrain.

Regarding security, we count with 7 airbags, antilock system (ABS) with Brake Assist, the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Hill-Holder and the anti-tilt system (ERM). Elements standard on all vehicles.
