Geneva 2011: Land Rover introduces diesel plug-in hybrid

Land Rover is at the Geneva Motor Show (-13.3.2011) unveiled a prototype of a plug-in hybrid vehicle. The Range_e is to consume only 3.36 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The CO2 emissions are in accordance with 89 grams per kilometer. For several months, some of the prototypes are tested in everyday life.

Land Rover will offer from 2013 models with diesel-electric hybrid drive. Based on the prototype shown in Geneva is the Range Rover Sport. The engineers completed while the 180 kW / 245 hp 3.0-liter TDV6 a parallel working electric motor with 69 kW / 94 hp. The control electronics determines this automatically via the power source and selects the appropriate moment, depending on the efficiency of the diesel or electric motor or a combination of both engines.

The force is with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission to be related to the four driving wheels. The lithium ion battery of 193 km / h fast Range_e Range Rover has a service charge of 14.2 kWh and can be on a standard household outlet.
