Geneva caput mundi

After half a disappointment in Detroit, many were waiting impatiently for the Geneva Motor Show, a real litmus test that tells us how many years is the car market. What were the responses that this 82nd edition has given us? We say that the houses are increasingly taking and the desire to return to pre-crisis climate is strong and it shows.

Lamborghini supercar dream as Aventador, Pagani and Ferrari Huayra FF are proof. Especially the latter, which was discussed at length, promises to open new market opportunities for the horse, and could be just the first of a new series of sports cars with a wagon body. The revolutionary carbon shell of the "Lambo" bodes well, in view of the industrialization of the use of fiber (which is already trying to do with the BMW i3).

They really miss new glamorous, signs of fundamental change. But maybe not so much the fault of the Houses, because of the fact that we have become accustomed to even more sensational news. The enthusiasm that the cars with zero emissions caused only a few years ago now gives way to more concrete questions about price, operating costs and infrastructure and so maybe we'll do the usual to the various Leaf Nissan, Peugeot and Renault Ion power.

Let alone pseudo-futuristic cars and supercars, but to spend most current models. We appreciate the vitality of the Fiat group, one of the protagonists of the event in Switzerland. Numerous innovations Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Fiat and Jeep have sent important signals to the market: the Lingotto and there is more alive than ever.

Certainly not enough models, though beautiful, like the Alfa Romeo 4C to strengthen a brand, but the car is a dream and the Alfa fans have been waiting for a model like the little coupe. Of course, if we were to go into production (with all the changes necessary), then, yes, the Milan could make the long-awaited jump.

But Volkswagen, with its 7 new, wanted to give strong signals to that market which wants to become absolute queen by 2018, possibly due to the infamous acquisition of Alfa Romeo. Piech does not give up, even Marchionne. We are still waiting months repartee axis Wolfsburg-Turin, pending the final solution.

And then? Then there are the usual exercises in style, concept, more or less like their production models, normal and small restyling, the bedrock of the global car market. The long-awaited revolution in the car, in short, it seems they will wait a bit ', but is changing very slowly, almost without noticing it.
