Gumpert is a niche brand known for being a sports car manufacturer and tough as well. For Tornante but we wanted to take a step forward, trying to combine sportiness with elegance and exclusivity. To do Gumpert has entrusted to the Italian Touring Superleggera body realization of this car with the aim of giving more space for occupants and luggage compartment, improving the comfort, access and reducing noise in passenger travel.
All without losing the character of typical high-performance car brand that has a range as the Gumpert Apollo supercar. The frame of the rest comes from your sister Apollo, as well as the central provision of the propulsion system. The engine of the new Gumpert Tornante - long 4.47 m wide, 1.97 m high 1.21 m with a distance of 2.7 me a weight of about 1350 kg - is the twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 of the Apollo the very low weight (only 196 kg) and derived from the Audi engine. The power rating stood at 700 horsepower at 7,400 rpm (900 Nm of torque) even if compared to the Apollo was revised to "soften" the provision.
The transmission is automatic instead of six-speed shift times around 40 milliseconds thanks to a double clutch. Had been provided but the benefits in terms of speed and acceleration, but it is obvious to think that the new Gumpert Tornante - which will arrive in 2012 - easily exceed the threshold of 300 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h not exceeding to 4.5 seconds.
