Infiniti: Nissan's Sunderland plant will house the production of Etherea?

Jim Wright said, without too much emphasis. "It is not impossible that the Etherea is produced in Sunderland, but it is still premature to address these issues." The car will debut in 2014, and there are still twelve months to locate the production site, but the words of Vice President, Infiniti Europe imply the possibility of abandoning the plant Japanese Tochigi to move to England, in Sunderland, the current "home" Nissan Qashqai and the Juke.

The availability of the new front-drive platform (developed with the support of Mercedes) requires the engineers to assess the transfer Infiniti in Europe, it is impossible to introduce a special production line at the plant which currently are made all six models available in range. Wright also expressed some considerations for aesthetics.

"The Etherea is an innovative, break. We could not make another 'me-too car' (that is similar to many proposals in the segment, nda). To challenge A3 and BMW 1 Series so we have chosen the way of originality. "
