Introduction of E10 is stopped once

The introduction of the new Super biofuel E10 fuel will be stopped for now. That the oil industry association said today in Berlin with a surprise. Its chief executive Klaus Picard said in support of the system was close to bursting. It threatened shortages of other fuels. So far, the new fuel with ten percent Bioalkoholzusatz only available at about half of the about 15 000 gas stations in Germany.

Before E10 would be introduced at all remaining, must be awaited, if the consumers take in the coming days E10. According to Picard, there are currently already shortages of other fuels. They also argued that their refineries full E10-tanks are not empty because only fill up about a third of motorists E10.

The petroleum industry is legally required to introduce E10. Because the engines but not by nearly a tenth of the registered vehicles E10 tolerated today, many drivers move the tap in E10 does not, in order not to risk engine damage. The oil industry was trying to convince with higher prices for the previous Super E5 and the Super Plus, drivers of E10.

This had in turn consumer groups brought into the picture. (Ampnet / Sm)
