Market: slight growth in Europe, Alfa Romeo +41%

Small signs of recovery for the European market for four wheels. In February, new registrations in the 27 EU countries plus the area EFTA (European Free Trade Association), grew by 1, 4% over the same month last year, reaching 1,014,519 units, compared to 1000. 041, 2010. Back at last on the European scene after a positive sign that the downturn was in January, 1, 1% (1,072,548 units registered).

If therefore the overall level of the Old Continent can smile again, at least a bit ', can not do the same thing in Italy and in particular the Fiat group, which has in fact a rather substantial decline. The Group of Lingotto in Europe in fact has lost 16.7% of market share. Sales in February stood at less than 77 thousand units.

From Turin do know that the drop in question is physiological, as tied to the end of the economic incentives that were available until they had supported the application and registrations. At Mirafiori also explain that comparing these data with those of recent months, the trend was positive.

To be penalized by the end of incentives, in particular, it was the Fiat range in which a commercial offer has voted to clean vehicles (bifuel and LPG). In February, in Europe 57 thousand cars were registered, that is 22.5% below last year (5.6% share is now almost 2 percentage points less).

The only group where Fiat is good, very well indeed, is the Netherlands with a +82.4%. In trend against the Alfa Romeo brand in February grew by 41.7% with 11,500 vehicles registered. This is the seventh consecutive month to a plus sign for the historic mark of Ares that has excellent performance and closing the year, both in the first two months of 2011 (+40.2%).
