MG3, English with almond eyes

The legendary carmaker MG stands for Morris Garage, having had a glorious past as a producer of sports cars, has seen in recent decades because of a slow inexorable decline, and thus risk of disappearing forever into oblivion. Since 2007, the mark of property by the SAIC, the largest Chinese automaker that wants to revive the historic brand with numerous models for a large slice of the market.

The first step of China's new bet called MG3, it is a B-segment compact car that will debut in March on the Chinese market and then arrive in the old continent in the spring of 2012. The supermini brings with it a typical European style, characterized by soft lines and rounded shapes that are meant to attract a young and dynamic. The length of the car almost 4 feet (3.99 m), while the step reaches 2.52 meters, more than enough to comfortably accommodate four passengers and their baggage. The MG3 is powered by a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that develops 110 hp and 135 Nm of torque, according to the manufacturer able to push the car over 180 km / h.

The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as an option that can be replaced by a practical automatic with 4 gears. In a second step to the side of the 1.5-liter will be introduced an entry-level 1.3-and 68 hp, while the top of the range will place a 1.5 turbo 158 hp. With regard to the suspension layout, the Chinese engineers have opted for a classic McPherson front axle, while the rear torsion beam has been chosen.

The MG3 will be sold on the Chinese market at a price of 70,000 Yuan (about € 7,800 at current exchange rates) with a truly enviable standard equipment that includes the set of four 16-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, electronics, mirrors external electric and sbrinabili, cruise control, electric windows and central locking and then the hi-fi with CD-MP3, equipped with six speakers, USB and iPod.
