Peugeot 908 Hybrid comes

Hybrid cars are increasingly common, and the proof is their gradual arrival at the competition, Peugeot confirming the submission of its 908 Hybrid, which will have a total power of 630 hp. Hybrid vehicles are more common today in daily use, and that normality gradually be moving to the circuits where more and more brands are betting on prototypes of this style.

He who has a car of this kind is now Peugeot, launching a hybrid version of the 908 in order to participate in this category in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. In the same test before the race will decide the viability of the car to approach the race with guarantees. The 908 Hybrid has an energy recovery system from braking, which results in increased power to 80 hp at times.

However, the delivery of this power is done automatically at times of acceleration, not necessary that the pilot manually activate the system as with KERS in Formula 1. The additional 80 hp of this hybrid system in addition to the 550 HDi engine original V8, leaving the maximum power of the Peugeot 908 Hybrid at 630 hp.

The energy that is able to accumulate in the lithium-ion batteries is 500 kJ, to be subsequently transferred to the rear. In addition, the 908 Hybrid can get by on pure electric mode, but in a race car does not see more use during a pass through the pit lane. As we said, not until the test before 24 hours of Le Mans, which will take place in late April, when Peugeot decided to participate in the legendary career with this unit or not.

Its performance and reliability will be key. We will be watching.
