Pininfarina dissolve the joint venture with Volvo

Pininfarina radically changes the relationship with its partners and is poised to return to the industry that has made her more famous in the world, focusing in automotive design than in the manufacturing sector. The Italian company has in fact stopped cooperating with Volvo and dissolving the joint venture and selling 60% since 2003 held at Pininfarina Sverige AB (with whom he produced the Volvo C70 convertible).

The end of cooperation between the two companies will become effective from 2013. Less radical, however, divorce French entrepreneur Vincent Bolloré and Pininfarina Bolloré Véhicules eletrique (Vepb), the joint venture set up to build electric cars: in this case, the parties have reached agreement for a transaction that provides that the Italian brand sold 50% of its share, which will not affect plans to build an electric car, which was concerned that the City of Paris has already an order for 4,000 units.

Diplomatic but clear statement announced by the company and its managing director Silvio Angori, which aims to close 2011 with profit after a 2010 closed in red: "Over the last three years there have been momentous changes, especially in the automotive world. Pininfarina's future is based on design and engineering services, mobility and sustainable development of the brand.

We are moving our future on a different basis. " And 'the red in the budget last year (33 million euro) has suggested that Pininfarina to reduce its presence in the joint venture: the Turin-based company, in fact, could not support the capital increase likely Vepb would require in terms of investments to produce electric cars.
