Pininfarina electric car can wait

Pininfarina fashion show, it seems only momentary, electric car. The Italian company announced it had leased the business unit that deals with electric vehicles to the company Cecomp Piedmont, which will now plant management of the establishment of Bairo Canavese and its 57 employees who work in the division.

To explain the reasons for this choice was Silvio Angori, CEO and general manager of Pininfarina: "The electric car market is not yet able to absorb a significant volume of production, such as those we had initially expected (between 15 000 and 20 000 models a year) with the Bolloré partner.

" For Pininfarina, therefore, the setback was due to the fact that the electric car market is not yet fully mature, not justifying certain investments and volume of their production. Italian group will bring the operation into the coffers of € 14 million, which should be reinvested in finding solutions for sustainable mobility and, of course, in the study of new design solutions, which remains the hallmark of Pininfarina.

With this agreement, instead Cecomp launch the project named Autolib car sharing, which will feature the French group led by Vincent Bolloré.
