Renault signed an incoming RS roadster?

As reported today by Autocar, Renault would be thinking of an ambitious program for its historic division of Dieppe Renault Sport could become something very much like a separate brand, with much of its range. The first model? A bomb, a two-seater roadster inspired by the concept DeZir shown at Paris Motor Show 2010.

Focusing on the RS, Renault seems to have finally given up the rebirth of the Alpine brand. As explained by the product manager Beatrice Foucher, "Renault Sport is a fundamental division in the strategy of the house. Its customers are loyal, many of them see it as a brand in itself, and we wish to emphasize this specificity.

" "We still Mégane RS, for example, but Renault Sport also needs its own models. We started working on it, and now we are thinking of cars from small production volumes. " The Foucher has also specified that no final decisions have yet been taken, but it points to a range consisting of "two or three models for RS.

If it seems certain that the DeZir roadster (provisionally call it that) "will not be economic," has not yet been decided all on account of his technique. The manager expressed "the desire to be able to sell an electric sports car, but apparently, while maintaining the spaceframe chassis architecture mid-rear of the prototype, the production model will leave both the body panels, kevlar, and the propulsion electricity.

What then is the first engine of Renault Sport's next generation? The most likely candidate is the aspiration of the Clio RS 2.0, which delivers 203 hp and the little one that could be further increased for this new use. The model will be produced in Dieppe: the historical establishment, then the first Alpine and Renault Sport, was orphaned in the production of the Megane RS, which is assembled in Spain with the rest of the range.
