Audi A3-tron and the Shanghai Motor Show

At the Shanghai Motor Show 2011 Audi has the A3 sedan and concept-tron, a plug-in hybrid sedan seats four three volumes long 4.44 m wide, 1.84 me 1.39 m high, and with proportions underlining the dynamic character and sports. The frame of the single-frame grille is made of carbon fiber reinforced. The headlights have a new LED technology, the front spoiler is dominated by an air intake carbon framed by a continuous strip of metal.

The spoiler that incorporates a splitter increases downforce on the front. In side view, the concept Audi has harmonious proportions, surfaces and a pronounced area of the roof and lowered fluid, which flows into a pillar plate style coupe. The shoulder line continues in an elegant way in the luggage compartment lid.

The glazed area occupies one third of the height. Two sharp lines bring out the side: the so-called tornado line, drawn in the windows, and the Dynamic Line, which runs above the sill. The exterior mirrors, made of aluminum and carbon fiber reinforced strips are placed on which surround the crystals.

The door handles with their moldings are in brushed aluminum and come out hollow electrically at the touch of the driver. The tail lights are large smooth flattened shape that tapers inward, while the luggage compartment lid is decorated with a spoiler. There is also a diffuser in carbon fiber reinforced metal that frames the two large tailpipes.

The doors, bonnet and tailgate are made of aluminum. The design of the bridge - that wraps around the driver - is dominated by horizontal lines. Featuring a large strip of three-dimensional shape of solid aluminum with integrated control functions. On the center console stand out the four circular air vents of aircraft design.

The automatic climate control knobs are located in the lower center console. Behind the multifunction steering wheel is placed a newly designed instrument that makes clear the individual stages of operation of the hybrid system. On the dashboard, instead of the tachometer, we find the so-called "power meter" indicator of the power output, the index which specifies the total capacity of the system on a scale from 0 to 100 percent.

A second scale is divided into segments colored green and orange has a duty to inform in a clear and immediate way in which the A3-tron is in the process, or to what extent the active electric propulsion and combustion. The battery charge level is displayed by an additional tool. Between the two large circular instruments is the large display of 8 "of the information system for the driver.

The large display and MMI monitor shows the operating conditions and power flow in the hybrid system with an elegant graphical a three-dimensional effect. On the center tunnel console is the dashboard of the MMI multimedia system. The surface of its large rotary knob integrates a further innovation, the touchpad of the 'MMI touch.

"This new solution makes the drive even more intuitive and Audi will soon start mass production. infotainment In fact, a UMTS module offers unlimited access to Internet services and brings profits of Google in the car. With WLAN hotspot, customers can browse and submit e-mail at any time.

On the back of the back of the front seats are mounted tray iPad. A3-tron The concept was conceived as hybrid and plug-in is driven by two engines: a 1.4 TFSI four-cylinder engine 211 hp (155 kW) with turbocharging and gasoline direct injection, electric powertrain and a 27 hp (20 kW). The total system power is 238 bhp (175 kW).

The interaction of the two motors The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.8 seconds and enables a top speed of 231 km / h. Fuel consumption is an average of 2.2 litres/100 km. The heart of the A3-tron concept consists of the lithium-ion batteries mounted behind the rear seats. With a filling capacity of 12 kWh are possible, with an all-electric operation, operates up to 54 km.

The batteries are charged while driving through an energy recovery system, or at a standstill, using a household power outlet. In this way most of the urban routes are completely emission-free. The compact plug-in hybrid is equipped with a seven-speed S tronic gearbox consists of two partial changes driven by two clutches.

The driver can operate the gear in both automatic and manual mode by pressing the rocker at the wheel. The structure of the Audi A3 and-tron concept was taken from the RS 3 Sportback with McPherson front suspension and four-link rear axle attached to a subframe. Shock absorbers and coil springs are mounted separately from each other.
