Audi: The detttagli wheel drive and four-tron

There had already talked about a month ago, but now is back on four-wheel drive and Audi four-tron since the German company has released many technical details to it. The four-tron and uses hybrid technology (with plug-in charging mode) to obtain a four-wheel drive transmission: the rear axle of the models that are to be equipped, it will install a compact electric motor.

The four-tron takes front and a second electric motor to assist the 2.0 TFSI 211 hp and 350 Nm Directly behind the heat engine is placed in the drive to zero emissions, generating 45 hp and 211 Nm A clutch Dry driven to electronically connect the electric motor is to be TFSI four-speed automatic transmission.

A lithium ion battery is placed inside the central tunnel to house the masses as much as possible near the center of gravity. The battery has a rated output of 9.4 kWh, of which 6.5 are available for use, and can be recharged at a standard wall outlet. For a full charge to a network of 230 V takes about two hours.

The power electronics is located partly in the engine compartment and in part for the spare wheel. Audi-tron and four in normal driving, the four-tron and aims at maximum efficiency: driving distance from the towns or on the highway, the hybrid system that uses primarily moves the front wheels.

The rear electric motor comes into operation when the driver accelerates. If an axle loses traction on slippery surfaces, or where it is required to optimize driving dynamics, the torque is distributed among the axles in fractions of a second. The resilience of the energy and four-tron is independent of the gear.

The presence of two electric motors, also has the advantage of allowing a very effective management of the grip on slippery surfaces, including by electronic traction control. The rear electric motor produces 81 hp and 300 Nm and is structurally included in the differential integrating a single gear ratio.

On both sides of the differential gearing are superimposed electro-hydraulically controlled. Just as in the Audi sport differential rear, these are precisely to allow the torque vectoring. The forklifts are equipped with the system and four-tron are also equipped with a digital instruments that can be configured in different ways and that provides detailed information on the energy conditions of the vehicle.

In pure electric mode, as Audi says, the four-tron and reaches 100 km / h and can travel up to 40 km. In the case of strong acceleration, the action of two electric motors, provides up to 110 hp, even for short periods. When the speed goes up or the distances are getting longer, the 2.0 TFSI is responsible for most of the work.

The total output of this powertrain is 314 hp. In the release, the rear electric motor acts as a generator and recharge. In this situation, the 2.0 TFSI is decoupled from the drive system and therefore does not generate friction drag. When the driver brakes, the two motors together the deal involved only during deceleration and braking braking more intense, or when the vehicle is brought to a complete stop.

The energy recovery system achieves high efficiency thanks to innovative power management of the rear brakes. Small electric motors act on the pistons that push the pads to the discs, allowing for control of driving dynamics even more accurate from experience.
