BMW: to study the adaptive automatic transmission

And if an automatic transmission of the last generation was also able to read the road? BMW is doing it a little thought: During the "Innovation Days", the manufacturer of Monaco presented a series of images on his next project, "put your eyes to return." Through GPS, telematics data, DSC, cameras and radar sensors, the transmission would be able to self-regulate its operation in road conditions and environmental functions.

The consequence would be an adjustment "end" of the power going to the land through a targeted management reports. We do a couple of examples: rain? The system alerts the devices through its DSC and set the transmission to avoid skidding. You are in how sports changed? If weather conditions permit, the car will select the optimal ratio to take a corner and leave it wide open with a gas engine revs up.

A sophisticated system needs an elaborate design and road tests quite stringent: it is therefore unlikely that we will see between the optionals first few years. It certainly will make its debut on the top models from the 7er.
