Fiat aims to acquire 51% of Chrysler by the end of 2011

The Fiat Group is planning to increase by 30% its share of the Chrysler Group. The news comes from Bloomberg News, and it seems that the house of Lingotto, which currently holds 25% stake in Chrysler, will receive a further 5% from the U.S. government as Fiat will respect the clause of having 90% of dealers on U.S.

territory and also Latin American Chrysler vehicles. To overcome this problem Sergio Marchionne has announced that the Chrysler on Brazilian territory, the largest market for Fiat, will be presented to the Fiat brand. The other request by the U.S. government that Fiat intends to follow is that Chrysler should have revenues of $ 1.5 billion outside the U.S.

market. By the end of 2011, Marchionne aims to have 51% of Chrysler. After 5% of the U.S. government will buy the remainder of Fiat. But it seems that they are ready to 1.14 billion dollars to buy 16% of Chrysler later this year. However, if the negotiations were protracted then the price will be around about 1.37 billion dollars.
