Jeep Wrangler Mojave: Sons of the Desert

Among the many innovations introduced by the Chrysler Group at the New York Motor Show 2011 (April 21-May 1) there is also the Mojave Jeep Wrangler, 4x4 special edition of the unstoppable American dedicated to the Mojave Desert in California, bound in double quotation wire to the traditions and legends of American Indians.

During the official presentation of the Mojave Wrangler in New York, Mike Manley, president and CEO of the Jeep brand, said: "The path of the Mojave is known for challenging expeditions in a harsh environment characterized by uneven, rough, sand and canyons, almost the ideal landscape to try the incredible talents of the Jeep Wrangler.

" Available in 3 and 5 doors, the latter known as Unlimited, Wrangler, the Mojave is characterized by sand-colored livery reminiscent of the hues of the desert and the many decals depicting a lizard found on some parts of the car, like the hood black engine and rear pillar, but also in the interior, where the same stylized lizard was stitched on refined brown leather seats.

The rest of the car including the dashboard and instrument panel has been renewed - in style and technical equipment - with the debut of the 2011 Wrangler, which occurred a few months ago. The special exhibition dedicated to the Yankees 4x4 is also distinguished by the wealth of standard features including the brand new 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control, stereo with CD player with MP3-iPod connection and roof canvas called Sunrider.

The off-road capability have extolled the unstoppable Rock-Trac four-wheel drive, assalli reinforced by Diana 44 and the indestructible bumper bars positioned on either side of the car. The Mojave Wrangler is available with two engines: the classic 3.8-liter V6 at 199 hp and 315 Nm of torque (12.1 l/100 km and 280 g / km of CO2 declared) and the new 2.8-liter turbodiesel with 200 hp and 460 Nm of maximum torque available over a speed between 1600 and 2600 rpm (8.1 l/100 km and 213 g / km of CO2 declared).

This engine is available only with manual six-speed transmission, even with the new 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential function, while the gasoline engine only has the classic 4-speed automatic transmission. The Mojave Wrangler will be available in U.S. Jeep dealerships starting next June at a starting price of $ 29,195 (about € 20,413 at current exchange rates).
