Forthcoming exhibition in New York (21 - April - 1 May), will present the Nissan Nismo Leaf RC racing version of the famous electric-powered cars of the Japanese company that debuted last year at the Paris Motor Show, and then landed on some European markets - Italy excluded - the beginning of this month.
Made by Nismo, Nissan's motorsport department, the Nismo Leaf RC (Racing Competition) actually has little in common with the standard model, aside from the shape of the headlights and the logo "Nissan Leaf" placed under the wing back. The car is in fact a real race car built starting from scratch.
Parlndo journalists from the Leaf Nismo RC, Carlos Tavares, president of Nissan Americas, said: "We have combined the talents of NISMO, Nissan's competitive group, and engineers who have worked on some models of the Super GT Championship and FIA GT1: Leaf RC Nissan Nismo is a kind of 'mobile laboratory' to accelerate the development of EVs and aerodynamic systems, as well as a research platform for future 'green standard' of motor racing "The body structure uses a carbon fiber divided into three sections, of which the front and rear are completely removable.
Among numersoi details of the car windows are fixed, typical of racing cars, the headlights with LED technology and a large rear spoiler with electronically controlled, directly activated by the pilot. The aesthetics of the car was built by Nissan Design Center in Japan which was inspired by the line of the standard model, while the livery has selected a special pearl white color made with four coats of paint and embellished with blue logo " NISMO / Zero Emission ".
With a wheelbase shortened by about 2 cm, the "RC Nismo" measuring 2 cm in length and more than 17 in width than the road version, but what is more impressive than the reduced height of 35 cm, for a total 6 cm, making it literally crushed to the ground. As for weight, the massive use of carbon fiber and composite materials have stopped the balance of 938 kg, thus reducing by 40% the total burden than the standard version.
The mechanical arrangement is greatly distorted rather than the version approved for circulation in the street. The ESA is pushing this particular Leaf AC synchronous motor capable of 80 kW to 108 hp and 280 Nm of torque, fed by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery consists of 48 modules capable of 80% in just ricaricarsifino 30 minutes using a fast setting.
