Lotus denied public funding for growth plans

Lotus was denied a government grant that would serve to support the growth plans and the production of the new range models presented last year at the Paris Motor Show. Now, according to reports AutoExpress, the new Lotus Esprit and other next generation could be assembled abroad. The manufacturer of Hethel had asked the government support amounting to 27.5 million pounds, which should have come dall'RGF, the Regional Growth Fund, a "treasure" from 1.4 billion.

Lotus, who made a formal request in January, wanted to use those funds to build a new manufacturing plant located at its headquarters that it would create 1,200 new jobs. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, for the record, has disbursed a total of 450 million in recent years in favor of industrial projects for General Motors, Jaguar-Land Rover and Bentley.

By next July 1 in any case, Lotus has an opportunity to make a new request with the changes which will hopefully loosen the purse strings of government.
