Mercedes: soon the 5.5 twin-turbo V8 for the E 63 AMG

It was just a matter of time early in the Mercedes E 63 AMG will face the first major upgrade in the running. And it will not be subtle aesthetic touches, but the replacement of the same engine: the 6.2 naturally aspirated V8 will be replaced by the new 525 hp 5.5 twin-turbo V8, which is taking place between the AMG models.

Class E are for the same powerstep the CLS, those from 525 and 557 hp, a little 'creatures less powerful than the most exclusive Affalterbach, on which the eight-cylinder engine reaches 571 hp. However, the most powerful version of the E 63 will be able to devour the 0-100 in 4.2 s, much less compared to three tenths of which are mentioned for the new M5.

The maximum speed will be limited to 250 km / h for AMG "standard", but with the Performance Package and the most powerful engine, the limiter operates at 300 times. And customers will have the bad version of a course package of sporty driving on the track. Despite improvements in power and torque, the twin-turbo consumes less aspirate: requests for fuel are on the combined cycle of 9.8 l/100 km, compared with 12.6 of the engine.
