SRT8 Jeep Grand Cherochee: that fighting spirit!

The sports department Chrysler Group's Street Racing Technology, at the New York Motor Show 2011 (April 21-May 1), has unveiled the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, strong powerful HEMI V8 with 465 hp making it the most powerful Jeep ever produced. This unit, also used by the Chrysler 300C SRT8 presented during the event in contemporary American, leads the new Yankee 4x4 at the highest levels of sportsmanship, until now exclusively the preserve of AMG Mercedes M-Class and BMW X5 M.

The look of the Grand Cherokee has been made much more aggressive and engaging with some clever changes. The front end has gained a bonnet from which two large openings to cool the engine and a new bumper fascia features a streamlined profile and accentuated by unusual fog lights and LED daytime.

Similarly, gains a tail spoiler positioned above the rear window and a new air extractor which includes the exhaust racing. Finally, the side view is dominated by the widened wheel arches that house the huge 20-inch alloy wheels combined with 295/45 performance tires made by Pirelli. The same goes for the interior, adorned for the occasion by carbon fiber inserts and seats in nappa leather and Alcantara high-containment, in addition to the new steering wheel with flat bottom and pedal made of anodized aluminum.

The aggressive appearance of this super Jeep is confirmed by the incredible talent that promises to offer the HEMI V8 engine from 6.4 liters to unleash 465 bhp and 630 Nm of torque, discharged through a 5-speed automatic transmission with steering wheel controls. The enormous power of course is reflected on the performance of the car that are more than superlative: the acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 4.8 seconds while top speed is limited electronically to 250 km / h.

The handling of the car was appropriate upgrade power down the set of 35 mm and increasing torsional rigidity by 146% compared to "normal" version. In addition, through the device Selec-Track System can handle the sophisticated Quadra Trac four-wheel drive, limited slip differential, electronically adjustable suspension, stability control, the speed of change and the accelerator.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is expected in U.S. dealerships starting next September, while it is still uncertain whether a debut in our country, having regard to a possible overlap between this new Jeep SUV Maserati and the future which will share many components.
