Suzuki Kizashi Concept EcoCharge

As predicted by some sources, Suzuki will present the upcoming exhibition in New York in 2011 (April 21-May 1) the EcoCharge Kizashi Concept Kizashi prototype on the midsize sedan and features an innovative hybrid scheme designed to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, but without decrease the sportiness and driving pleasure offered by Japan's four-door.

Whether it is still a prototype it can be inferred from certain exterior features typical of the Car Show, as the blue LED lights positioned in the headlights and the side of the fog, but also in the queue at the plate holder. A touch of sportiness comes instead from the roof drains from the black oval embellished with a chrome to match the projectors, the brake lights and burnished by the unusual double-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 16-inch P215/60 R16 tires.

For the rest of the aesthetics of the car is identical to that of the sedan introduced in 2009, while the difference is under the hood, which conceals a modern hybrid scheme is intended to bridge the technological gap that separates the Japanese competition from Toyota and Honda, both with many years of Prius models and strong Insigth the same technology.

EcoCharge The Concept is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that works in tandem with a small electric motor 15 kW (20 hp) powered by a group of lithium-ion battery of 115 volts, while the transmission was chosen a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), properly optimized for this type of hybrid.

According to data reported by the House, this hybrid system saves fuel by about 25% compared to the version of the Kizashi is fired with only a 2.4-liter internal combustion engine, while the performance should remain unchanged although precise figures were not disclosed in merit. To help fuel efficiency and emissions were also adopted other measures such as the adoption of stop-start system with recovery of kinetic energy during braking, as well as having installed a new set of tires with low rolling resistance.
