Volkswagen shares will be 50 years old

on 50 years ago today, 7 April 1961, Volkswagen shares were first traded on the regulated market. The former "people's share" has since developed into interesting investment for both institutional and private investors and experienced a sustained increase in value. The IPO of 1961 were the adoption of the Volkswagen Law and the subsequent partial privatization of the company ahead.

Under the motto "Prosperity for All" promoted the federal government, the participation of citizens and workers in companies by issuing shares. The Volkswagen investment has been the prototype of such a "people's share". On the legislative base of the Volkswagen Law, Volkswagenwerk GmbH was on 22 August 1960 for "Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft" was renamed and registered in the Wolfsburg commercial register.

The first listing of Volkswagen shares in the regulated market on 7 April 1961 was the privatization of its successful conclusion. Shortly after the start of trading of the security's price soared by 350 DM high fixed issue price at around 750 DM. Anyone who purchased a time share in the equivalent of 350 DM and it has not sold in the meantime, has today, after two successful stock split 20 ordinary shares with a value of around 2200 € and has also received dividend payments of around 570 €.
